Grand Union talk

On Wednesday we had a talk by artist and curator Cheryl. Their place has 8-13 studios. They first managed to find places from derelict fire stations and other run down places and regenerate them. They managed to get a business plan together and got the money from fund raising. Cheryl had a friend that worked at the city councils regeneration scheme, so they helped to repair the place.

I have managed to get images off the internet that show breast enlargement advertisements. The advertisements have been advised to be banned due to the recent pip failures. 


I have made my first drawing based off Kim Kardashian, a model from FHM. I've replaced her right  tit with a one that's not gone according to plan. 

I then made it into an advert. My next plan is to photocopy and print off a copy and add colour to it. I will also look at more advertisment's to see if I can get inspiration.

Thinking the visual

Today I've had my seminar with Graham about the Thinking the visual module. I think this would be a great module to help me express my work.

Introductory Lectures

Today I had my introductions to Studio Practice Development and Professional Studio Practice. I must go to the artist lecture coming up this Wednesday to help me with my Professional Practice. I'm thinking of going to the careers centre to seek advice on how to make a CV.

I have also brought the Independent. They had an article about the recent events concerning complications with women's breast implants. It was saying the plastic surgeons are trying to remove cosmetic treatment advertisements. I have an idea that I could paint my own cosmetic advertisement, using propaganda studied from last semester.

What I plan to do now is :-

• Research a bit into cosmetic surgeries
• Possibly start thinking of starting my PSP project
• Buy another newspaper the next day to gain more ideas
• Start a research Book, placing newspaper articles and ideas in
• Begin sketching ideas.

Start Of The Second Semester

Now that I've entered the second semester, I shall look at past experiments to take further this semester. 

I think this was one of my successful experiments that I could continue with. I can get a few metal plates like this one and create loads of metal portraits like this one. This was created using Melted crayons and Plasticine.

The screen printing is another one I'd like to continue to improve. I want to see if I can add multiple colours of paint to it instead of a single paint, while being cost effective.
